Parts Sales Specialist – Counter Sales

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process parts requests from customers both in person and over the phone.
  • Assist customers in identifying and meeting their specific parts and supply needs.
  • Fulfill customer orders from available stock using a computerized inventory system.
  • Adhere to company and vendor policies and procedures.
  • Receive payments, provide change, and properly package or bag merchandise for customers.
  • Provide customers with advice on suitable substitutions or modifications when the requested part is unavailable.
  • Inspect returned parts to determine if they are defective, process exchanges, or issue refunds.
  • Participate in routine inventory checks.
  • Take inventory counts and submit an accurate stock report to the supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and assist customers as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized parts room free of clutter.
  • Greet customers promptly and courteously when they enter the store, starting each workday with a positive attitude.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a college degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience in parts sales is desirable but not required.
  • Computer proficiency is required to manage inventory and process orders.
  • Must be a team player with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with customers in person and over the phone.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this position include standing for extended periods (over 75% of the time), walking, sitting, bending, and heavy lifting. Employees will also regularly carry, stoop, and lift parts or equipment. Effective communication is required for both in-person and telephone interactions, and employees will need to use a computer as part of their daily tasks. Ability to lift and carry items weighing between 15-50 lbs.

Work Environment:

This role involves working in both office and warehouse settings, with conditions varying based on the tasks being performed.
